STATEMENT OF VALUES AND EQUAL OPPORTUNITIES
Community Action & Support – East Staffs (CASES) exists to co-ordinate, promote and develop local voluntary action throughout East Staffordshire.
CASES recognises that the United Kingdom is socially diverse in race, culture, beliefs and religion and that no person or group of people should suffer oppression or restriction of opportunity based on gender, race, belief, disability, sexuality, age, class or geographical location.
CASES is committed to challenging oppression and inequality in its work and structure and in particular will take positive action in the areas of employment, volunteering, representation, service provision and membership.
CASES believes that priority should be given to working with people whose full participation in society is limited by economic, political and social disadvantage.
In pursuit of its aims, CASES will:
Work to ensure that we become more aware and make other voluntary organizations more aware of oppression and inequality and the problems they cause, how they affect us and the implications for our work. Work to increases involvement with other organizations to promote equal opportunities.
Challenge practices, legislation and institutions which seek to discriminate against or deny the rights of individuals on grounds of race, sexuality, gender, disability, age, class or geographical location.
In particular CASES will:
Work to enable all people to collectively play an active part in their community.
Work to ensure all people have equal rights in respect of social justice and are able to participate in decision-making presses and local action. Work towards a just and participatory society.
Work to ensure that all its services to voluntary organizations are provided in a way which promotes awareness of the rights and needs of people from all minority groups.
CASES has an equal opportunities policy to assist with implementing this policy statement.
